KARACHI: Army and ranger’s police have disappeared from some of the stations in Malir cantt, leading to bogus votes being cast, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) advocate Ashraf Sumo told The Express Tribune.

According to him polling staff, including two women, was being tortured and was taken hostage by the workers of a political party.

“Voters are being harassed and we have complained to the concerned Returning officer,” Sumo said. “But we don’t see any action being taken yet.”

Ps-127 is the only constituency where polling is going on peacefully, rest of the district, under the NA-257 constituency, is being hindered.

The report is untrue. I also live in Malir Cantt. All of us cast our peacefully. There was no rigging or any kind of pressure from any political party. Army was on route to polling stations and inside the polling stations police constables were present. The election here was truly democratic and transparent. Kindly refrain posting news irresponsibly. The area has educated and responsible citizens.
