Violence continues unabated: Two watchmen at a private school killed

Two watchmen employed at a private school in Sultanabad, Manghopir, were among the five people killed in Karachi on Wednesday. The watchmen were shot dead at the school’s premises.


Another man, Mohsin, was also wounded in the incident. Police officials said that the school receives financial aid from a foreign organisation and a militant group aiming to target the organisation might be responsible. They also pointed out that the two men were Hazara Shia by origin.

A navy personnel, 28-year-old Zahid Iqbal, was shot dead on a motorcycle near Bakra Hotel, in the limits of Kharadar police station. Separately, 23-year-old Nazeer Khan was killed in Sikandarabad, Keamari.

The owner of a meat shop, 25-year-old Waqas Sattar, was shot dead by two armed men on a motorcycle in Orangi. According to the police, 35-year-old Haji Hassan, was also killed. Additionally, 22-year-old Waqas Saleh Muhammad, who used to work at a scrap shop, was found dead near Phool Chowk. According to the police, the deceased lived in Napier and was kidnapped on Tuesday.

Another man was found dead from Lyari, in the limits of Rizvia police station. Police officials pointed out that he had been killed approximately three days ago.

Political workers detained

Police and Rangers personnel arrested two dozen suspects during a targetted operation in Boat Basin, near Bilawal House, on Tuesday. According to police officials, the majority of the detainees, including a known political figure, Guddu Bihari, were political workers. Clifton SSP Nasir Aftab said that the detainees will be interrogated.
