Transitions: Folk singer Ghulam Ali Sandelo laid to rest

Large number of people attend funeral, including famous Sindhi singers.

Renowned folk singer Ustad Ghulam Ali Sandelo, who breathed his last at Larkana hospital on late Monday night, was laid to rest at his native graveyard in Rohri on Tuesday afternoon.


Two days ago, Sandelo was rushed to a private hospital in Larkana because of a lung infection. His Namaz-e-Janaza was offered at the Karbala ground in Rohri and later he was buried in the graveyard in Kot Janullah Shah, Rohri.

The burial was attended by a large number of people, including famous Sindhi singers Barkat Ali Bhatt, Shaman Ali Mirali and Jalal Jogi. No elected representative or any official from the culture department attended the funeral. Sandelo was born on January 1, 1958. His father Loung Fakir and Uncle Qalandar Bux taught him music and singing. The late singer has more than twenty cassettes to his credit. He leaves behind a widow, two sons and two daughters.
