ISLAMABAD:

The government has vehemently criticised the opposition’s nominees for the caretaker prime minister.

Successful consultations for the interim set-up between the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) were dealt a significant blow when Information Minister Qamar Zaman Kaira said, “The nominations of the PML-N are like a political joke”.

Briefing media regarding decisions taken by the federal cabinet on Thursday afternoon, the information minister said that the government had already sent a letter to the opposition leader regarding meetings for consultation on the caretaker setup.

Kaira said he would not be able to reveal the time of meeting between the two parties until he gets a response from the leader of the opposition.
