TORONTO: Nicole Kidman was feeling “very exposed and very nervous” as a first-time producer promoting her new film Rabbit Hole at a major film festival, she said Tuesday.

The actor, who won an Academy Award in 2002 for her portrayal of early twentieth century English novelist Virginia Woolf in The Hours, literally sweated through a news conference at the Toronto film festival.

“The reason I’m wearing this jacket is because I’m sweating under here and I can’t take it off ‘cause this shirt shows it,” Kidman said. “I feel very exposed, very nervous,” she explained. “It’s a whole different ball game because it’s so personal when you’re in a film but you’re not responsible for the film. I’m responsible for this film so it’s a big weight. But I’m glad that we made it.”

Rabbit Hole is based on David Lindsay-Abaire’s Pulitzer Prize-winning play of the same name, and examines a couple mourning the loss of a child after a hit-and-run accident.

Aaron Eckhart, best known for his roles in The Dark Knight (2008) and Thank You for Smoking (2005), co-stars with Kidman in the film directed by John Cameron Mitchell.
