Pak-Japan Relations: Japan to invest in radio broadcast, child health

The ambassador says that the new radio system will contribute to stability of these areas.

The Government of Japan will extend grant assistance for radio broadcasting and child health, worth ¥2.8 billion (Rs3.16 billion) to Pakistan. The Japanese Ambassador Hiroshi Oe and the Economic Affairs Division Secretary Javed Iqbal signed the two projects on Friday, said a press release.


Under the radio network project, the Pakistan Broadcasting Corporation headquarters in Islamabad and its Faqirabad Transmitting Station will be equipped with a new broadcasting system in order to expand radio coverage for the people of K-P and Fata.

The ambassador said that the new radio system will contribute to stability of these areas.

Meanwhile, in the other project, new medical equipment will be set up in the Child Health Institute in Karachi. Oe underlined the need to improve the capacity of paediatric medical services in Karachi to meet the requirement of its growing population.

Pakistan needs investment in its big dams. Only that can absorb its surplus labour and keep the masses away from religious fanaticism.
