LAHORE: Civil Judge Imran Shahbaz has summoned singer Abarul Haq for January 17 in a defamation suit filed by fellow pop artist Jawad Ahmed seeking damages of Rs100 million. The court had instructed Haq to appear on Wednesday, but he did not turn up as he is abroad.  The petitioner submitted that Haq, in a television talk show, had alleged that Ahmed had collected Rs60 million from Pakistan Television in the name of charity and then invested the amount in his film Virsa. Ahmed said that the charge was baseless and Haq had defamed him. He said the programme had been broadcast in Pakistan and abroad. He asked the court to direct the respondent to pay him Rs100 million in damages.
