NEW DEHLI:

Indian officials heaped scorn at Pakistan’s Interior Minister Rehman Malik for allegedly making “preposterous claims” as the latter exited the country on Sunday.

Much like the effect of his earlier comments on Babri Masjid and Mumbai attacks, the Indian government was left in utter shock and dismay when Malik claimed Lashker-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorist Abu Jundal had worked for Indian intelligence. “Abu Jundal has worked as a source for an elite Indian agency… Now (after using agencies) he has gone rogue,” he said.

“Such a statement is ridiculous. Abu Jundal was working with LeT on Pakistani soil when the Mumbai attacks were carried out,” Indian Home Secretary RK Singh asserted in his rebuttal. Meanwhile, Former Indian Foreign Service official KC Singh maintained Malik’s public comments during his visit had detracted the enormous forward movement in consular relations between New Delhi and Islamabad.
