Honour killings? Three women killed over karo-kari

A father killed his 32-year-old daughter on suspicion of having an illicit affair with a villager.

Three women were killed over suspicion of  karo-kari in separate incidents in Salehpat and Kandiyaro on late Monday night and Tuesday.


The first killing took place in Din Mohammad Noonari village in the limits of Salehpat police station, near Sukkur. The police said that Ghulam Nabi Noonari suspected his 32-year-old daughter Bakhtawar of having illicit relations with someone in the village. They added that Noonari attacked her in her house, strangled her to death and escaped.

In a separate incident, a young woman was strangled to death by her husband, Shah Murad Brohi, in Brohi Goth, said the Salehpat police. They added that Brohi worked for Ali Bux Mahar and suspected his wife was having an affair with somebody in the area. He escaped after he strangled her while she prepared breakfast on Tuesday morning. No case was registered till the filing of this report.

In an unrelated incident, police officer Shahid Hussain Gopang shot dead his aunt, identified as Najma, over the pretext of karo-kari in Ghazi Khan Village. No case was registered till the filing of this report.

such type of people are stinking stigmas on face of a good society and as such are required to be dealt with iron hands.
