ISLAMABAD:

The two-day Career Counsellor’s Symposium concluded on Wednesday with an entertaining musical programme and interactive session between participants and Islamabad-based alumni of UK universities.

The symposium was organised by British Council’s Education UK programme at the COMSATS Institute of Information Technology in Islamabad.

Speaking on the occasion, Nadia Kamran, head of Education UK Pakistan, said, “The British Council recognises the importance of career guidance which is why we are [organising such events].”

The second day’s proceedings started with a panel discussion on employers’ preferences in the hiring process and the importance of specialist vocational training in the job market. The discussion provided interesting insights about the process of hiring in the corporate sector.

The alumni event and closing ceremony, which featured a musical performance by Dr Masooma Anwar, was arranged by the British Council and the British Alumni Association of Pakistan (BAAP). Parallel sessions by expert speakers were held during the day and covered topics such as the current job market in Pakistan.
