Naming of parks

Letter October 12, 2012
Naming a park after Umar Sharif is a very respectable way of recognising his ability to make people laugh, be happy.

KARACHI: The decision by the Sindh government to name a park near the Bilawal House Chowrangi and Ziauddin Hospital in Clifton, Karachi after the famous TV and stage artist Umar Sharif is a laudable one. Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ebad inaugurated this park on October 10, 2012. This is a very respectable way of recognising Mr Sharif’s ability to make the people of Pakistan laugh and be happy in these difficult times for the nation. There is a need to recognise the contribution of our artists and accord them the respect they deserve.

(Ex-Senator) Mrs Tanvir Khalid
