TTP Punjab warns PTI march participants of 'painful consequences'

Published: October 6, 2012

PTI's only motive to come to Waziristan is to mislead simple people of tribal region, says TTP-Punjab in a statement. PHOTO: FILE

The Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan’s (TTP) Punjab faction has said that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf “peace march” is forcing them to take “strict actions”, a statement issued by the militant faction said on Saturday.

The TTP Punjab warned the participants to not endorse his “peace march” and said that they will face “painful consequences” if they do so.

The statement said:

Their only motive to come to Waziristan is to mislead the simple people of the tribal region.

The statement further said that the journalists “following the Jews” and endorsing Khan’s rally were “out of the pale of Islam”.

The militant outfit said that the PTI had not only “ignored the values of Islam, but also forgotten its norms.”

PTI’s “peace march” left from the limits of Islamabad and proceeded towards South Waziristan, today.

The motorcade will drive across Talagang, Chakwal, Kundian, Mianwali, Karak, Dera Ismail Khan and finally enter Waziristan.

who are these ugly ducks doing quack quack….they killed the same simple people ruthlessly by indiscriminate suicide bombings in market places, roads etc…they attacked kamra, Ghq , Immabargah, Sufi shrines and yet shamelessly they are speaking on Islam. Why are the threatning PTI march? it means that they feel threatened that Imran khan that he might alienate and weaken them by taking support and confidence of Tribals..

I don’t understand, how these drone attacks are useful for US and as Hina Rabbani Khar said that these attacks are against the US objective. US can’t not achieve their goals in Afghanistan without the supports of tribes of the region. With these attacks the US and Afghan war is becoming more and more tense. As frankly speaking In Pakistan US is trying to achieve the hearts of the people with help of the USAID I think it is not working for them until they stop these drone attacks.
I think the people of Pakistan will appreciate Imran Khan for this march as stopping drone attacks is the first desire of every Pakistani.

This goes to show the schism in the political landscape of pakistan. Even the same goals cannot be achieved by people who are at odds with each other. Overall the drones are a blight on this country and yet PTI to this day has been unable to explain in detail its stand on the militancy issue and yet here we have the militants in utter denial of the PTI itself.

I think its about time the security forces went in and wiped out these militants once and for all. Strategic asset or not, they are a socially regressive aspect of our country that will always function as taking us two steps back whenever we take one forward.

The Drones act on the principle of “Kill them all, let God sort them out” … they kill innocents as wel as militants. The innocents are only mentioned as a footnote citing an unrealistically lowered figure of “collateral damage”.
Imagine, would it be wise to nuke the US just to get to the maker of the offenseive film? BIG NO. Similarly, using drones in civilian areas to get to militants also poses a life threat to innocents.

Drone attacks are being carried out with the permission of GOP, so why not this march heads to Constitution Ave. Secondly, North Waziristan is the main target of drone attacks, whereas IK’s Tsunami march is heading to South Waziristan. It is not going to even enter south waziristan, but will return without even touching the border of south waziristan. Thirdly, when everyone knows that US is responsible for drone attacks, then the correct place to head a march would be US embassy, Islamabad. Isn’t he hijacking the anti US sentiments of masses just for his political show off.

    @IceSoul:
That is a very immature statement on your part. PTI and the MAJORITY of Pakistanis are against drone strikes because of this:
DRONE ATTACKS KILL INDISCRIMINATELY —> INNOCENT PEOPLE DIE —> THEIR RELATIVES, FAMILY AND FRIENDS PICK UP WEAPONS AND JOIN MILITANTS AND THEN IMMATURELY AND WRONGLY TARGET PAKISTANI INSTITUTIONS THAT ALSO KILL INNOCENT PEOPLE.
Hence, drone strikes are counterproductive and actually fuel terrorism and militancy. Gosh, how hard is this to understand???

TTP or Taliban or call them by any name, they are simply terrorists and hence criminals. They are neither the defenders of Islam nor their own country. A simple question – our Prophet (saw) was persecuted for many many years in every possible way, when he conquered Mecca – he did not go on a revenge spree but he announced a general pardon. Even the non-muslim scholars have written that he conquered hearts not by his sword but by his conduct. What kind of a conduct are we showing to the world in the name of this Prophet (saw)? are we furthering his cause or are we damaging the name of islam? IK has defended these people, and he can see the return, they cannot be trusted. He tried with JI and was physically man-handled by them. If he has to resort to these people for support then why should anyone vote for him, we might as well vote for JI or Taliban et al. People thought he is a sensible, educated and an open minded man but he has not shown that maturity and wisdom, just another one in search of power by any means necessary.
