RAWALPINDI:

A young man gunned down his sister and nephew in Dhera Syedan village on Tuesday after suspecting there was an ‘illicit relationship’ between the two. The Mandra police apprehended Sikandar Javed*, 22, and recovered the weapons used in the double murder.

The deceased were identified as Farhana*, 25, and Asim Nazeer*, 23.

According to Mandra Police Station House Officer (SHO) Khan Shabbir, Javed went to Farhana’s house and found Nazeer already sitting there talking to her. On seeing them sitting together, the SHO said Javed snapped and opened fire on them with a double-barrel repeater, killing both on the spot. Later, the killer fled from the scene. Khan maintained that after receiving information, a police party rushed to the crime scene and ran into the killer on the way.
He was arrested and the murder weapon was seized from his possession.

During interrogation, the killer confessed to his crime, saying he suspected that his nephew, Nazeer, had developed an ‘illicit relationship’ with his married sister, Farhana, which is why he murdered them. Further investigations are underway, the SHO stated.

The police moved the dead bodies to District Headquarter Hospital for postmortem after registering a murder case against the killer.

The accused will be presented in court on Wednesday to get physical remand.
