ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan met Sardar Akhtar Mengal in Islamabad on Saturday, where both political leaders discussed the current law and order situation in Balochistan.
Speaking to the media after the meeting, Mengal thanked the PTI leadership for supporting the six points he raised in the Supreme Court related to the missing persons case.
When asked about the involvement of foreign hands in Balochistan, Mengal said, “There are about 20-25 cameras even over here. I guess the foreign hands are only visible from Rehman Malik’s spectacles. He himself holds a foreign passport and blames us for having a foreign hand’s involvement.”
Mengal asserted that he had not come to the federal capital to talk to the government about the issue, but came to assist the Supreme Court because he saw a ray of hope with the apex court. “We have talked a lot about Balochistan and we are still talking about it. The ones who had to understand have understood us,” he said and added that his conscience is satisfied about the issues he has raised.
“The people here should also know what is happening to the people in Balochistan,” he maintained.
Citing the example of Sui gas, which was extracted from Balochistan but reached the province at the very end, Mengal said, “If there is 3-4 hours of gas loadshedding here, people create havoc. But you should know what is happening in Balochistan to the people who own this gas. We are being burnt in the same gas furnace.”
Khan also addressed the media where he reiterated his stance against the military operations being carried out in Balochistan and stressed that political problems cannot be solved through military solutions. “The time has come for a new Pakistan, where we move forward learning from our past mistakes… where decisions for provinces are made on the basis of justice… We are repeating the same mistakes in Fata that we made in East Pakistan. We are giving our enemies a chance to exploit the situation.”
Khan added that there will be no future of Pakistan till the provinces are treated with justice. “Peace will come through justice,” he maintained.

@Khurram: How do you know that I am an Indian? This shows your biased and immature thinking. I am a Pakistani citizen whose conscious is alive and I am able to analyse the situation on my own. I do not need anyone else's spectacles to view the ground realities. Furthermore, I am not from Balochistan, but I support Baloch struggle and their just movement. Please spare some time to read the history of military operations against Baloch people since independance. Also, read the they were denied their rights. Remember, mind is like a parachute, it works best when open. Open up your mind and your eyes and analyse the situation. I am a human rights activist. What is happening to the Balochi people is outrageous and I can see why they want independence. I am a white Christian and see their plight without bias. I support their cause, same as I support Palestinians. What Pakistan is doing to the Balochis is no different than what is happening to Palestinians. It is a historical fact that Balochistan is not part of Pakistan and was annexed in 1947. I welcome comments of Pakistanis who have a conscience. @Zoro: Perhaps you don't know English or didn't read the article. It is not about India, but about Balochistan.

Rehman Malik has been "jinxed" from the start... There has been nothing but trouble during his watch!! However Pakistani leadership including the tribal elders need to mature and shift their focus from personal welfare to national issues ie integrity and sovereignty of the state. The ruling class in Pakistan lives in medieval times with colonial mindsets...their personal grievances aside they need a serious reality check regarding their sense of direction. It must also be remembered that the prime reason of East Pakistan fiasco was Z A Bhutto's refusal to accept the election results!! The Army was sent over to quell the subsequent unrest...The East Pakistanis had a common goal and were united which this splintered elite tribal leadership is not!! Have they considered the seriousness of their actions?? It is time that this nation must ask themselves as to why does the army barge in again and again... And now why does the CJ has to intervene at every step... Why?? Is it not that the ruling classes in Pakistan are off the rails... Is the ruling class not blatantly flouting the laws of the land?? Mengal has made a valid statement since Indian foreign office too is awaiting proof of alleged Indian involvement in Balochistan for which Mr Malik made a commitment to the Indian delegation this year but failed to send it so far.

i support pti but it has to be said.. Mengal should also come to islamabad and explain how the sardars of balochistan are lavishly living.. How bugtis roam the city of khi terrorizing ppl on the road with their armed guards.. in convoys.. I can only imagine how they must be behaving in their villages.. Bugti Grandson was shot dead in party while he was trying living it up.. The next day they wake up drunk and complain on media that they and their ppl (slaves) are suffering.

A couple of days ago a PTI leader very arrogantly said on a TV channel that they will sweep the elections in Baluchistan and that will solve the Baluch problem. I am happy that Imran realizes the complexity of the issue and has taken initiative in meeting Mengal. He should ask his naive, nonpolitical second level leaders like Arif Alvi to refrain from giving policy statements about things they just don't understand.

If he is so brave leader then why Mr Mengal updates any killing of Punjabi on his Twitter account????. Punjabis are Devils or what that their killing is worth to share ?? Balochistan is "Kashmir" of Pakistan - yes and both started just after the creation of Pakistan. Outside interference - no, unless at least a single proof is provided to the public for scrutiny.
India CAN give Pakistan tough time if Pakistan does not change its path of animosity with India.

I agree with feelings and mistrust of Baluchis. This reminds me the situation in East Pakistan prior to libration war for creation of Bangladesh There is a similarity in both cases. Baluchis are fighting against the cruelty, murder ad disappearance of their brothers by the agencies. This will be the main cause of their separation from Pakistan. There i still little hope that this situation can be reversed by having fair election,giving more powers to Baluchis releasing the disappeared persons and punishing those responsible for the killing of Mr Bugti. We may have to put Rtd. generals into jail if found guilty to save Pakistan. To avoid the simila situations elsewhere in Pakistan, we must abolish Jagirdari system and must create more provinces to help the people and for better administration os provinces. Creating more provinces will create a good feelings and atmosphere of brotherhood.We must create 2 provinces in Baluchistan,2 in KP,2 in Sindh and 3 in Punjab to save Pakistan.

A Baloch "traitor", Mir Ghaus Bakhsh Bizenjo and a Pakhtoon "traitor", Wali Khan. Obviously, Pak Army just had to do a military operation, and what should naturally have happen happened in 1971.
