Damage caused by rains (II)

Letter September 13, 2012
I appeal to the government, UNESCO to come forward and save Mohenjodaro and other historic sites of the province.

ISLAMABAD: The ongoing monsoon madness has caused massive destruction in Sindh. However, the various district administrations, as well as the National Disaster Management Authority and the provincial authorities, are nowhere to be seen.

The ancient Mohenjodaro site, the centre of the Indus Valley civilisation, has been massively affected by these heavy rains. The relevant national and provincial organisations, notorious for their indifferent attitude, appear to be in a deep slumber. Is there anyone in the corridors of power who wishes to save the world’s first planned city, which has been irreparably damaged by the non-stop disastrous monsoon rain, as well as other historic sites of Sindh?

I appeal to the government as well as UNESCO to come forward and save Mohenjodaro and other historic sites of the province.
