Beheading of soldiers

Published: September 3, 2012

PESHAWAR: The footage of the beheading of 12 Pakistani soldiers kidnapped in the Batwaar area in Bajaur Agency is yet another reminder that the militant network is far from having been dismantled. How can it be when these militants are being provided freedom across the border from where they easily regroup to inflict heavy damage upon the Pakistani security forces on a continuous basis? This grotesque episode of barbarism is not new; just a few months back, 15 FC personnel were killed to avenge the killing of Qari Kamran, according to a Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan spokesman. Bodies of the slain soldiers were thrown over a hill in the Mir Ali sub-district with each bearing torture marks and multiple bullet injuries. This time around, the TTP has claimed to has succeeded in killing the “infidel soldiers of Pakistan”.

Despite launching successful military offensives in Bajaur, the area remains far from peaceful due to the sanctuaries provided to the militants across the lawless border in Afghanistan. The absolute incompetence and inability of the Afghan National Army in managing security issues is surely no state secret. The long war has rendered the Pakistani security forces vulnerable to all sorts of threats. In all previous attacks, the militants have made military installations their prime targets. The proposed operation in North Waziristan has surely turned the guns towards Pakistan’s security forces once more. It can certainly be viewed as a warning of what can follow once the Pakistan Army begins cleansing the North Waziristan agency of terrorism.

Tragic incidents such as this ought to compel us to re-evaluate our role in the war on terror and the US-dictated security strategy that we adopt as our own. Why do we have to keep pursuing this fight that seems to have no end at all? Why are we allowing ourselves to be used as fodder and continue to be victimised by the Taliban on one end, and the allies on the other? Pressure mounts upon Pakistan from all quarters. Comments by Bruce Riedel to give Pakistan a tough time and by Jon Kyle to suspend all sorts of civilian and military aid to the country are also linked to the pressure tactics employed by the Americans. The warning issued by US officials empowers the non-state actors and serves as an open invitation to them to keep staging attacks inside Pakistan. Can the US guarantee a reversal in the Taliban momentum after the North Waziristan operation?

Another Taliban apologist. So we should surrender to the TTP and there merry men of non state actors and hope that they dont consider expanding there activities to the rest of the country?

And how can the operation in Bajaur be successful and at the same time leave the area far from secure?

First the Muslims declared Hindus, Christians and Ahmedis as Non-Muslims and preyed on them.
Then The Sunni Muslims declared the Shia Muslims as Non-Muslims and preyed on them.

Now the TRUE MUSLIM TALIBANS have declared the Sunni Muslims as Non-Muslims and started to play football.

Is it the Mullas who introduced hate in school text books and preached hatred for Non-Muslims? No. It is the Army, Judiciary, sections of the Media that did it and are still doing it with the enthusiastic support of a vast section of the public. It is the Army and not the Mullas who created, indoctrinated, installed and provided continued support to these Talibans.

While a section of the population are calling on Allah 5 times a day, some are waiting for one call from the Ayotollah.Recommend

    @Nadir:
    Dear Taliban Apologist.
Can you kindly get a commitment from these barbarians that they will not target our Army and civilians in settled area, if Americans leave Afghanistan or we leave Americans. If so please enlist me for procession against Americans. I will shout and curse them at the top of my voice.
Unfortunately Qari Ehsanullah (TTP spokesman) has publicly ruled out this possibility. So you have no option but to take your head out of sand.

Zardai has has no choice except to face TTP and their Pakistani supporters JI and other sympathisers. Pakistan is at the point of no return standing to be destroyed by extremists.
The things are getting so bad people may well come TTP to govern Pakistan.

Thank you for endorsing to seek help from the USA to combat terrorism. Our Military must put aside the false pride and start thinking that if they cannot secure their own, how can they protect helpless citizens!!!
Only solution is to secularize Pakistan and any Mullah becoming hurdle must be stopped by force and our Military must support to achieve it otherwise we are going to loose rest of the country as well.Recommend

Killing n cutting heads of the soldiers, it’s not only UN-Islamic but a deplorable act. There’s no reason, facts, demand etc which could Justify this barbaric act. Pakistan army, rulers n political parties must talk in one tone n act against TTP. These murders need no pity n Pakistan forces must get rid of such animals. It won’t be against Islam or any other force if Pak-army decide to drop few N-Bombs to get rid of this cancer once for all.
