Airport Security: New monitoring system inaugurated

Minister said it will help to break terrorism networks and track terrorists.

LAHORE: Interior Minister Rehman Malik on Saturday inaugurated the Integrated Border Management System (IBMS) at Allama Iqbal International Airport. He said it will help to break terrorism networks and track terrorists. He said the system will have the data of outgoing passengers and NADRA and FIA will be able to exchange information using it. He said the IBMS will also help the Federal Board of Revenue increase tax recovery. He said the government will not allow use of illegal SIMs in mobile phones and was considering a new procedure to block suspicious SIMs. He announced that passports issued after September 15 will be valid for 10 years instead of the current five years.
