Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leaders joined protests on Friday organised against the government by religious parties all over Pakistan against the reopening of Nato supply routes.
PTI members directly participated in the protests and demonstrations of Jamaat-ud-Dawa (JUD)and Difa-e-Pakistan (DPC) against the reopening of Nato supply routes.
The Multan protests were led by PTI leader Tariq Naeemullah. His presence attracted other members of PTI to the protests. They demanded that the government address the issue of drone attacks as they are disastrous for the sovereignty of Pakistan.
The demonstrations began after Friday prayers, which were marking Black Friday all over Pakistan.
“I will move with the long march in the interest of the country, as this is the only solution to topple this government,” said Tariq Naeemullah. “We want Imran Khan to join us in this long march to get rid of this government.”

btw... is strings accompanying PTI leaders in the march???? asking just for knowledge....
now thats wht i always say, Infallible status IK has in PTI..... many PTI facebookers will justify that also..... its not if JUD or DPC is right or wrong. its becuase they seldom talk sensible. i m saying saying "seldom" out of respect
IK is gravitating towards his natural allies! I see a call to join the rally in few days.
All political parties have connections on issues with religious parties. PTI will stand with whoever opposes NATO outrages. Even if it's Fake Liberals, in case they protest against NATO route reopening, PTI will join them too.
@Wtf: "@faraz Does your lone support for PTI mean anything ? PEW polls show he and PTI got 70% support."
Actually PER poll did not ask questions about any party. So it is incorrect to say that 70% people support PTI per PEW poll. Secondly, the PEW poll question was not about voting intention. It just puf forward several personalities. For each person you could answer Like/Dislike/Do not know. The total of these 3 answers being 100. In Imran's case 70 % people said Like. In case of Nawaz Sharif 62% said like. For CJ Chaudhuri and COAS answer was in 50S range. Gilani and Hina Rabbani Khar it was in the 30s and Zardari was 14%. The very fact that Percentage who like Nawaz and Imran is greater than 100% makes it very clear that this question was not about voting intentions.
I am not saying that Imran will not win. He may and unquestionably he is far more popular than he was 4 years back. But pre-poll alliance and many other things determine election results. Do not rely on this poll to reach the conclusion that Imran will sweep the polls.
It is against the law of Pakistan (Anti-Terrorism Act, to be specific) for the members of banned terrorist groups like SSP and JuD to appear at any public place without permission of the local thana. By - once again - joining ASS and JuD in public meetings, PTI is not only showing its true colours, but blatantly abetting the violation of the law as well.
Imran Khan was loved because his life style symbolized revolt against the reactionary social thinking, alas he then himself became one of them.
What choice has IK GOT? he is desparate as is the GT road PMLN ,one is relying on mullas and the other on Suprem court ..Both know they will not win the next genral election .
Imran Khan has joined the hands of those who are running terror factory in Pakistan, He has lost my vote, surely!
@3footninja: it is not that educated class favor reopening of the supply route. It is IK's joining hand with right wing parties. Only and educated person will know the way forward is not mixing religion with politics, IK is doing the exact opposite.
@Hasan
The liberal crowd come from the elite who hail from fuedals . They got lands you bet given to them from British rule.
This is kind of funny. You liberals are a fringe in the country, and only have ET to utilize to vent your frustrations .
It is of no consequence what you want
IK and PTI have popular support against the servile feudal parties like PPP
Down with the fuedals!
@faraz
Does your lone support for PTI mean anything ?
PEW polls show he and PTI got 70% support.
tribune should not call DPC a religious party first of all.....
people on same payroll join hands... DPC & PTI subsidy of same parent organization
It looks like PTI is offending as many people from the pro-US liberal crowd as it is people from the jihadist right-wing crowd...that can only mean the party is doing something right.
Hasan
Birds of feather, flock together.
Hopes of a silver-bullet in the form of IK/PTI for Pakistan problems is becoming bleak.
@Uza Syed: where r taliban in PTI. opposing drones means supporting taliban ?All PTI people r educated and moderate.leave usa slavery
@Sultan Khan: I dont know where u learned about democracy from, but protest, dharna etc are all part of democracy. every citizen have the right to protest in a peaceful way.
They should do a Shehzad Roy concert in their long march as well.
I am a member of PTI and great supporter of Chairman Imran, but am disappointed with this PTI move. Although I would not go to the extreme of saying this is essentially the mindset of PTI, I think DPC includes a lot of sectarian parties, previously banned ones, and now with new wrappers, and in principle, it is wrong to be seen aligning with these folks. Most of these elements have been very rigid in their stances against minorities, silent against the suicide bombings and non progressive in general and have exploited religion to their personal gains. I would not want my party to be leaning that far right. I am all for displaying displeasure and demonstrating, but not with this "tollaa" of agency backed extremists. I hope such an event is not repeated. Jeeway Jeeway, Sirf Pakistan ( no party is before my country).
@Noor: "PTI belong to people of moderate thinking" -------- You mean as moderate as the Talibans and the rest of that horrible creed with different names, including the big big Taliban Khan?
@Imran Con: PTI is very soft target for everyone. Clearly in another news ET mentioned that PTI has rejected offer of DPC. my hate for biased journalism
@ jibran u r croosing lines bro
Seems like this is not a Tsunami made from water, but from blood!
@faisal: PTI is only trying not to alienate any sect or group or social class. they met with shia, sufi, salafi and secular groups to bring them closer and in main stream.
Excuse me? All of them are already in the mainstream except the salafis. The latter derive their strength from an ideology of hate. If they give it up, they would become sufis. No amount of talking or appeasement can change their mindset. They must be taken head on.
@Noor: Blame it on Imran Khan's unwarranted ego and his love for attention causing PTI to be synonymous with his name. It's not any writer's fault it came off that way. It's not like they control your thoughts and forced you to come to the wrong conclusion. That aside... The comments are already getting entertaining seeing his supporters scrambling to play damage control for PTI. Don't go thinking people don't remember your previous stances and excuses in regard to PTI and extremist groups right up until this this article.
So , all those who are aginst the action of Tariq Naeemullah , are people want NATO to go n fight in afghanistan with all the mess on pakistan ? logical interpetation of what i have attained from the comments.
2ndly Ikhan has never said he will start porn , sex free state , total liberity like in non muslim countries , so what is the issue with this news ? if people are aginst muslims killings , it isn't good ? now m a supporter if PTI .period .
Mullas + IK + DPC + Deep State
4 sides of a square !
Birds of a feather flock together ..
@Liberals.. Sir, why do you hate the Clerics/Mullah`s who may have even given you your name, who does your nikah and even whenever you die, the clerics will do your final rituals. You being a Muslim, the Clerics will play a major role in your life.
Pakistan, is a Islamic Country, carved out of secular India for Muslims.& IK Saheb, truely wants to make a Islamic State., & every True Muslim in Pakistan wants it that way. Atleast Most of us do. So what
s wrong with IK Saheb, joining hands with Clerics and Mullah
s.@jadogar:
Not against Islam... But the far right wahabi/salafist interpretation of it.
I speak for myself though. I cannot judge what or why others do what they do.
I remember that song from behgairat brigade in which they showed PTI = Modern jamat Islami. PTI needs votes and once shaikh rasheed said that every poling area has got at least 10000 mulvi votes which can be grabbed easily and are the main difference in wining and loosing.
I want PTI, Difa & JI to form a coalition....then they can take on the corrupt parties
Shame on ET they always try to link IK with Mullahs whereas its not true....
I dont understand something how can someone be Mullah and Jewish puppet? Cant we just take a person the way he is?????????
@ liberals: You are no different than these Mullahs as you both hate each other and that's racism.
Unity with all those who wish to fight their war with the blood and welbeing of innocent citizens of Pakistani muslims. Now, PTI and Imran Khan are openning up, it's no more behind any covers or veils.
Now,PTI, TTP (Taliban Tehreek) and this gang aka as Jamaat-ud-Dawa (JUD) and Difa-e-Pakistan (DPC) and JI etc. are solidly ONE ---- congratulations to those who wake up today and realize what this Tsunami really is what kind of havoc it's going to wreak upon our lives and our country and we also must see their agenda of sending us all en masse to heavens of their choice.
So , all those who are aginst the action of Tariq Naeemullah , are people want NATO to go n fight in afghanistan with all the mess on pakistan ? logical interpetation of what i have attained from the comments.
2ndly Ikhan has never said he will start porn , sex free state , total liberity like in non muslim countries , so what is the issue with this news ? if people are aginst muslims killings , it isn't good ? now m a supporter if PTI .period
Rallies with local and internationally banned organizations are quite normal in Pakistani standards.
Drones attacks are wrong, illegal and crimes against humanity. Everybody should protest against it and condemn all those who are doing it. If anybody doesn't, its either lack of courage, cowardliness or is unable to stand up against the masters.
ET I have breaking news for u Sheeda Tuli PTI member have join JD he was first made member then asked to join JD in front of ET reporters PTI should answer that? dozens being killed in baluchistan focus on that for GOD sake
A game of dragging Pakistan backwoods and may be mr khan will win the cup The kind of Islam these relogious parties practice and preach is no Islam .In PPPs rule the real power lies with lawyers and judges ,,With Imran khan it will be the MULLAS,
Am Glad IK has finally joined DPC/JuD. Infact, i was worried as to why IK saheb hasn`t declared support to DPC/JuD & was getting disappointed. I had felt IK who made his stance on drones has not said anything about NATO Supplies. Now, am happy with IK/PTI. Am confident khan saheb will make Pakistan, Inshallah, a true Islamic State. Thank you Imran Khan Saheb, soon, the Tsunami will take over Pakistan.. Way to to.
I want to hear imran khan on this issue and if he says he's with dafa-e-Pakistan then count me out from PTI
thumb down to haters.
people cant think beyond sectarianism. PTI is only trying not to alienate any sect or group or social class. they met with shia, sufi, salafi and secular groups to bring them closer and in main stream. whats wrong with that? may be it doesnt fit into the sectarianist and social class prejudice based thinking of some people.
Finally a true pitcure of convergence.
... so all those who disagree with PTI attending the protest actually AGREE with reopening of the NATO supply lines in exchange for a "sorry" for murdering 24 of our army men? Sad to see such mentality from the so-called educated class of our society. Supporting a cause which 90% of the population agrees to is actually being misconstrued as a form of alliance. How pathetic!
how about blocking roads? the actual supplies?
IK is my last hope for pakistan. What what is happening to him.Going soft on PPP and MQM and now PTI siding with DPC and JUD ? The only party he real speaks against from his heart is PMLN.Too N-centric I would say. IK ; my hero come out of this small minded politcs of your ignorant fresh supporters and be a bold revoilutionary leader you were supposed to be. Fight for all Pakistan , not for central punjab only and dont pander to these sick elements of Pakistan politics.
Birds of the same feather flocking together.
ASWJ, LeJ, JUD, PTI, TTP- Different manifestations of the same mindset.
If this is true that IK has joined the band wagon of national and international terrorists, he has lost quite a few votes. I certainly shall not vote for him.
Issue-based coming together to harness momentum. Detractors and status quo would always term it a total alliance which it is clearly not.
this is not a credible news. IK has time and again condemned attacks on Shia. He has time and again said that he does not endorse the ideology of DPC. Kindly do not judge PTI on this article. PTI policy is very clear that they do not endorse any kind of killing for any purpose.
Tariq Naeemullah isnt an office bearer till 2011 he was in PML N. After friday prayers many ppl politically unaffiliated joined Anti drone protests. And why use "Leaders" when you can only name one unknown PML N ex Nazim? Is this really headline worthy?. Great fear scaremongering ET.... You are turning into the conspiracy prone LUBP...
disappointed with Imran Khan!!!
What a style of news. seems like Ik join the rally.Pathetic news
IK is jumping on the Wrong Track . . . ????
@Zaikam: Yeah, except "blasphemers".
In a parliamentary democracy Parliament is the forum where one can present his views about the national issues. If the majority agrees to your point of view then its ok otherwise you have done your job and have absolved yourself of any unfavourable consequences of the majority decision. This is the only way a democracy works. Those who are bent upon toppling the sitting government by using the tactics of dharnas, street prtoests, blockades etc. must keep in mind that if they come to power they will have to face the same music.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with joining these protests. Everybody has the right to express him/herself.
Tariq Sahib - I think you are jumping the gun by yourself. IK has said clearly that he will not go for the long march unless there is a clear threat to institutions. I think elections are few months ahead. PTI supporters have already seen the worst part, they can wait another few months and participate in a smooth political transition.
Like minded people together atlast.
This is changing everything
