Wait for the 17 Member ‘Cabinet’ sitting in the Supreme Court. They will take a Suo Moto and strike down the legislation made by popularly elected Parliament. As for the contempt of court, this very approval will come under contempt the way things are going on.

In case if the Cabinet approves that a dual national can hold a Public Office, this will be against the interest and security of Pakistan.

If the nation wants Pakistan to prosper, it must say NO DUAL NATIONAL FOR PUBLIC OFFICE.

Please also make Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah’s August 11, 1947 speech to the Constituent Assembly a part of the constitution through a constitutional amendment. Possibly make it the Preamble of all the Constitutions of Pakistan in the future. The current PPP led civilian government’s performance has not been exemplary. If they have this constitutional amendment passed, they will be positively remembered for this single act that would have a profoundly benign impact on our national psyche. The government has an opportunity to do it now, which they may never have in the future.

so in a case of conflict between US and Pakistan, UK and Pakistan, or any nation and Pakistan, who will these dual nationality holders side with. According to their oath to the new nation they will support their constitution and interests, and they havent taken a similar oath for Pakistani citizenship since they were born here.

Please someone please comprehend on this.

Also personally I think, the Afghan refugees from the soviet war have a better case to be national assembly members than these morally corrupt . I mean atleast the afghans have spent their whole lives if not the majority of their lives in Pakistan and understand the problems associated with poverty, and the general masses than these so called leaders of our times.

I am in no way supporting for AFghans to the parliament, but I think they have a better case than dual nationals like me and these corrupt leaders. Recommend

In every civilized country constitutional amendments are made for the benefit of the people and not for protecting the black deeds of the rulers. In my country it is the other way round. US constitution is two and a half centuries old and how many amendments have they made? In my country seven amendments in the constitution were made in its first four years of life by the one who claimed to be the architect of it.
The irony is that the nation is just taking it as a fate accomplice. Brothers, constitution is a sacred document on which the lives of our coming generations depend. Reject these inept self serving politicians and chalk out a new social contract for the sake of coming generations.180 million people, united can do it. democracy, no doubt, is very good but certainly not in the hands of these corrupt and inefficient leaders. What good is democracy if it is not to benefit the people,

This create serious conflict of interest and in Pakistani politics with all funds resting in few hands, it is disaster. One can easily leave country and get refuge in foreign countries, and we don’t have extradition treaties with many many countries. Don’t mess the situation more and muddy the water. Why dual nationality is detrimental to the progress of Pakistan. We only need to look at Nigeria. Their politicians have dual nationality. They fly out of the country the day before their term expires. Why? Because they have immunity while in office. They have stolen millions while in office. Same applies in our country. If you are aware that if you are doing something illegal, you will have to be accountable for your actions afterwards since you cannot run away. This is why this is a good law and any reason to change it is detrimental to our progress as a country.

Either come up with the policy of revoking citizenships if a Pakistani takes another country’s citizenship like India do to its citizens or stop beating the drums like this is the only problem in Pakistan.

If dual citizen pakistani can vote, purchase land, and do business in Pakistan then they have every right to participate in elections as well.

.I think that you Pakistanis deserve this kind of cabinet, how in the world one person could take oath of loyalty to 2 constitutions and countries. People who do this are dishonest people and do not deserve any one country because they are for sale to the highest bidder. Taking an oath and allegiance is only to one constitution and one country and is a very serious matter but Pakistanis are known to twist this allegiance. The problem is with these people that it suits them now and it does not matter what could happen in the future while someone could be planted by foreign governments to serve their agendas, most likely some of these people are doing it right now. If any unjust law is passed by the Parliament, the Supreme Court of Pakistan has the duty and could strike it down because they will have to interpret the constitution of Pakistan. So go ahead you sleazebags and try to smooth your ways to loot even more but hopefully the Courts will stick to the constitution and what it says and not you dishonest people.

I think the Pakistani Americans should note down these dishonest people and when they are through with Pakistan and has looted enough then we should bring up their names to the USA authorities because they have taken US citizenship fraudulently. A case could be made in the US or in other countries, let us not make them safe over here and they should pay the penalty for defrauding the Pakistani or the US government. Let us start the process by reporting their names to the State Department and Immigration and Naturalization Service and see what happens.

The genuine political parties serving the masses never compromise on national security interest and those run by remote control compromise on national issues…

    It is very strange that:

the Quaid of an ethnic “Tehreek’ of Karachi & Hyderabad is a UK national.
the President of Pakistan owns a palace in Surrey, UK.
the Chairman of govt’s largest ally owns a mansion in Spain.
a “new” leader’s 20year old daughter is US and 15year old son is UK National, who never like to come to Pakistan.

What is the level of their sincerety??
Do the countries like USA, Japan, China, India, Bangladesh allow dual nationals as their representatives??
Are those living in Pakistan not capable to run their country??

The main question is dual nationality and it should be decided. If one has nationality especially by birth and never renounced it then he/she is a national. People who claim that a person who acquired another nationality has renounced Pakistani nationality are ill informed. An example is Pakistani Americans applying for Indian visa are required by the Indian govt to use their Pakistani passport. Or if they only want to use their US passport they have to obtain a document from Pakistani consulate/govt called renunciation certificate. That is the proof they have given up Pakistani nationality are are now only US citizens. The point is without renunciation nobody loses their birth nationality in Pakistan. The more practical and fair way is to have a residency requirement of say a couple of years to contest a high office. Pakistani citizens even without dual nationality living overseas are no better than the people who obtained dual nationality for their jobs and education of their children. Residency in Pakistan shows more commitment to the country than the color of the passport.
