LONDON: Former Pakistan leg-spinner Danish Kaneria was given a life ban from English cricket on Friday for his involvement in the Mervyn Westfield spot-fixing case, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) said.

Westfield was given a five-year ban, although he will be able to play club cricket in the final two years of his suspension.

In a statement an ECB disciplinary panel said: “We regard Danish Kaneria as a grave danger to the game of cricket and we must take every appropriate step to protect our game from his corrupt activities.

“Accordingly, we are unanimously of the view that the only appropriate sanction in relation to both charges is one of suspension for life and that is the sanction we impose.

“This means from today Danish Kaneria is suspended from any involvement in the playing, organisation or administration of any cricket under the jurisdiction of the ECB.”

Great Job. Keep him out. I wish ICC also would ban him for life.

If Pakistan had done it, it would have looked religious discrimination to our liberal-maniacs.
Nevertheless, it is still sad for Pakistan that another of its player faces ban. We need to educate our players well.

Yes because Pakistan has not suspended anyone else for life due to their corruption. So it would have been religious discrimination.

How many people who were given life bans by PCB for misconduct or malpractice were reinstated within a year? When PCB is inconistent in discipling people it gets noticed.
