Town Municipal Adminis- tration (TMA) Rawal Town on Monday demolished five illegally constructed commercial buildings and sealed a house.
The operation against illegal construction in Rawal Town had been accelerated on the instructions of Administrator Rawal Town and strict action was being taken against violator, according to a TMA spokesman.
The enforcement department demolished illegal constructions in Satellite Town and Saidpur Road, and six sheds on Fifth Road and in Commercial Market. TMA officials also sealed a house being used for commercial activities in violation of rules.
Several raids were conducted on Monday to demolish illegally constructed buildings by a special squad recently formed by the TMA, said the spokesperson. Revenue generation has increased considerably as residents are now submitting their building plans for formal approval, he claimed.
Tehsil Municipal Officer Chaudhry Liaquat Ali said the increasing number of constructions without getting prior approval from TMA has compelled the administration to take steps to check the trend.
TMA officials have been warned to improve their performance to avoid action would against those violating the rules.
