Samples sent for DNA test

Three of four suspects arrested, FIR registered.

LAHORE: Medical samples from three of four men accused of sexual assault and the 10-year-old victim have been sent for DNA examination, Sheikhupura district police officer Dr Haider Ashraf told The Express Tribune.

He said rape had already been established in an initial medical examination.The DPO said the report of the DNA examination of the suspects’ samples would be available on Monday (today).

He said while three of the four men nominated in the FIR had been arrested on Sunday, City Farooqabad police were raiding nearby villages to track down the fourth suspect. The girl, a student of fourth grade, was abducted on her way home from her school in Mohallah Nokar, and raped on May 15, said the FIR. The FIR said the delay in registration of the case was due to the threats the complainants were receiving from some relatives against approaching the police in the matter.
