KOHAT: At least two people were killed and three injured when unidentified assailants opened fire during a Jirga in Sheikhan on Wednesday. The injured include Advocate Saeed Shah, the Awami National Party (ANP) district chief of Lakki Marwat and husband of former Member of National Assembly Khursheed Begum. The jirga was being held between rival groups in Kohat’s Sheikhan district when the men opened fire, killing  Fida Muhammad and Abdul Mateen on the spot. Both Fida and Mateen were ANP workers. The injured were rushed to the Lady Reading Hospital in Peshawar. Sources said that a month earlier, police officials took away Khursheed Begum’s security protocol after which Saeed told them that in the case of any mishap, police officials would be responsible.
