KARACHI: Illegal organ trading is not possible without the involvement of some doctors, said Prof. Dr Adibul Hasan Rizvi while speaking at a meeting at the Korangi Association of Trade and Industry (KATI) on Tuesday.

The founder of the Sindh Institute of Urology and Transplantation (SIUT) stressed upon the need for implementation of the organ transplantation law, which was promulgated in 2010. Dr Rizvi added that SIUT is constructing another facility in Kathore and 100 acres of land was already acquired for the project.

SIUT’s annual expenses come to nearly Rs1.5 billion, 40 per cent of which is borne out by grants by the government.

He encouraged the business community to contribute to the institution.

KATI patron-in-chief S M Muneer, All Karachi Industrial Alliance president Mian Zahid Hussain and others assured Dr Rizvi of their community’s support.
