Cricket: Shahzad, Taufeeq star in huge win

KARACHI: Ahmed Shahzad and Taufeeq Umar scored half-centuries to propel Muslim Gymkhana to a 184-run win against Shining Club in their Lahore Cricket League match. Batting first, Muslim Gymkhana scored 314 for eight off 50 overs. Shahzad scored 95 while Umar made 79. Usman Salahuddin remained unbeaten on 72 as off-spinner Usman Malik took three wickets. In reply, Shining Club were all out for just 130 in 28.5 overs. Off-spinner Waqas Aslam picked up three wickets while Shahzad bagged two scalps. In another match, Aizaz Cheema took a five-wicket haul as Model Town Green defeated Shalimar Gymkhana by six wickets. Gymkhana were all out for 145 in 24.3 overs as Model Town chased that down in just 21.1 overs.
