FAISALABAD: The Revenue Department on Wednesday started issuing tokens to the wheat growers after verification of their wheat produce for its sale at Wheat Procurement Centers, after directions from the district coordination officer. The distribution of bardana (bags) would start from May 04. The announcement came during District Food Controller Muhammad Taufeeq’s visit to various wheat procurement centres in the city. Taufeeq, while talking to the media at the centres, said that wheat with only 10 per cent moisture would be accepted for purchase at the centres. “The growers should bring high quality and dry wheat to avoid any complications,” he said. He said that a comprehensive strategy has been evolved to end the role of middlemen. He also directed the administration staff at the centres to complete all necessary arrangements in order to deal with emergency situations in case of rain.
