Religious extremism in Punjab

Published: April 30, 2012

KARACHI: This is with reference to Pervez Hoodbhoy’s article “Free laptops is not the answer. What is?” (April 30). Instead of distributing free laptops, the Punjab government should make efforts to eliminate religious fascism, which has spread widely in the province.

Free licence has been given to the religious lobby to spread their hate-filled propaganda throughout Punjab, which has poisoned the minds of the youth. Strict action needs to be taken to reduce the influence of this religious lobby. Millions are being indoctrinated in madrassas, which are churning out countless bigoted students into society.
