JOHANNESBURG: South Africa have turned down a request from Bangladesh to play a limited over series in May primarily because of a hectic schedule, the country’s cricket board said on Wednesday.

The Bangladesh Cricket Board, after their brief Pakistan tour this month was postponed following a court order, had approached Cricket South Africa (CSA) with a proposal to play one-day and Twenty20 internationals in May.

“Unfortunately there are too many practical obstacles that prevent us from accepting this commitment,” CSA acting chief executive Jacques Faul said in a statement.

“At the moment most of our senior Proteas are spread around the world in England and India and those who are at home are undergoing rehabilitation from injuries picked up during the past season.

“We also have to bear in mind that the Proteas have a hectic schedule ahead of it with very important tours to England and Australia with the World Twenty20 in Sri Lanka sandwiched in between,” he added.

Relax guys. South Africans turned down Bangladeshi offer simply due to their strict schedule – not because they fear that their bus may be targeted by militants in a broad daylight. Shouldn’t be embarrassing for them in any way.

This is diplomatic way of letting Bengalis know that they are not good enough to waste SA time on. I think BD should come to their senses now, hype had gotten into their head.

Well they get a taste of their own medicine. They should have gone with the Pak Tour not only it would have improve their Goodwill but would have given them a chance to play some tough cricket.

Please….its not like Bangladesh is the first or the last country to refuse to play in Pakistan. Taking jibes at their level of play is not fair criticism. Why blame them for playing it safe?

Its not because of just playing cricket, It was actually opportunity if bangladesh come here and play some cricket they would have helped pakistan to have some cricket and enjoyment for pak people as they are all muslims they should have no fear by playing in pakistan, TRUE muslim never fear. As being a muslim we thought they gonna give us hand in difficult times, Anyway we shouldnt retaliate the same but shld keep them ignore they will come to know by them self that what they have did

We should stop criticizing BD. What they did was right. If you cannot protect your own people how can you take care of BD cricketers. I still do not understand fool-proof security. We should wait till thinks settle down in Pak.
