One-nation theory

Letter April 23, 2012
It does not matter that the writer finds striking similarities between Indians and Pakistanis.

ISLAMABAD: This is with reference to Aakar Patel’s article “One-nation theory” (April 22). The issues the writer has raised concerning similarities between Indians and Pakistanis are overwhelmingly common across the developing world and you can find striking resemblances in the mindsets, governance practices and politics of a lot of countries.

But these similarities do not tell us the whole story. It does not matter that the writer finds striking similarities between Indians and Pakistanis. The reality is that we have evolved into fundamentally different people and despite all the similarities, both sets of people are very different from each other.
