The two sides can convert the LoC in these territories to an international border — which would include Siachen
AUCKLAND: This is with reference to Pervez Hoodbhoy’s article “When Manmohan comes to Islamabad” (April 16). The writer has not touched upon the Kashmir issue in his article, stating that progress on it does not seem possible. But why not, at least, agree to make the problem smaller? India knows that its claim on Gilgit-Baltistan is merely a negotiation technicality and the same applies to Pakistan’s claim on Ladakh and Jammu.
The two sides can do a tit-for-tat revocation, convert the LoC in these territories to an international border — which would include Siachen — and reduce the dispute to the Kashmir valley only.
