Why a separate Seraiki province?

Published: April 16, 2012

RAWALPINDI: President Zardari has vowed to create a separate Seraiki province. The PML-Q and other parties aligned with the PPP government seem supportive of this move. Even the PML-N has been favouring the making of more provinces.

I believe that such a move will open a Pandora’s box as we will then see demands for a Hazara province, a Mohajir province, as well as demands for dividing Balochistan into various provinces, that will eventually lead to a virtual breakup of the country. In fact, our whole region can be subjugated by simply dividing Pakistan into more provinces, without any need for any foreign power to conduct any direct attack on our territory or through denuclearising Pakistan or dismantling its army or crippling its economy.

This needs to be understood by the political leadership, government and security establishment. Now the timing for such a move is not appropriate.

I guess they know that the Punjab is already stable and developing. Instead of wanting to copy this development, they want to create instability there to make it the same as the other provinces. Shame.

What i believe is that Balochistan is always ignored by Government and its youths are being killed, but no action against of them is taken. sadly, just pakistan appreciates punjab in every development of Pakistan………………..

From this type of Govt, The most corrupt and dishonest.. The new provinces are going to be special burden to ordinary Pakistani..
Think we can’t even give healthcare education and other necessities to these already created provinces.. so Why they (politicians) want other provinces???..

In my opinion they want to share the looted wealth of this country to all parties. Think how many MPA’s, MNA’s and Ministers are going to be in Pakistan???? How will they being paid?? surely from poor people pockets directly in their pockets..

If you don’t want more provinces, give more powers to the present 27 divisions in the country. 80% of the taxes contributed by each division should be retained by that division and 20% to be contributed to the centre for defence and other functions. The demand for more provinces is inevitable, considering that the Punjab Chief Minister wants to spend more on Lahore than anywhere else, while the P.M. thinks Multan should be given top priority.

It a move to divide Punjab again. I know there should be more provinces but all Punjab cities are equally developed except Lahore; which is a capital of Punjab. All Punjab cities are in better shape than interior Sindh cities and Balochistan cities. Why not PPP not talk about dividing Sindh and Balochistan? They want to break the huge population of Punjab so that Punjab never calls itself as Elder brother. Multanis should realise this thing that after breakup they won’t be a part of Punjab. They are getting smaller from bigger. More provinces should be made but on administrative basis and all at a time so that no unrest arise afterwards. Sindh, Balochistan and Pakhtonistan should be divided at the same time with consensus of all.
