Wheat Procurement: Bahawalpur to collect 242,000 tons

District level control room has already been established to monitor the campaign.

BAHAWALPUR: As much as 242,000 metric tons of wheat will be procured at 28 purchase points set up in Bahawalpur district this year. Speaking at a meeting to review arrangements at these centres, DCO Dr Naeem Rauf said a cold water tank, tent and furniture would be provided for each centre by the Food Department. He said Revenue Department staff would oversee the distribution of gunny bags at these centres. The DCO said the price of wheat had been fixed at Rs1,050 per 40 kilogrammes. He said District Officer (Labour) would pay surprise visits to these centres to check arrangements and submit a report to him on everyday. A district level control room has already been established at the office of the District Food Controller to monitor the campaign.
