Dysfunctional streetlights

Letter April 09, 2012
The street lights on the Abul Hasan Ispahani road are never switched on.

KARACHI: I would like to draw the attention of the concerned authorities to the lack of operational streetlights in many areas of Karachi, which has led to a significant rise in street crimes in general and cellular phone snatching cases in particular.

The street lights on the Abul Hasan Ispahani road are never switched on and hence muggers have found an ideal location to rob people. There is an urgent need to develop a mechanism, which ensures streetlights in Karachi are functional. Using solar powered street lights could be an option.

I hope that the authorities will look into the matter as dysfunctional streetlights have put people’s lives and properties at stake.
