KARACHI: Foreign investors are showing interest in the construction sector of Pakistan, but security issues have deterred many companies from investing in the country, said Saleem Kassim Patel, Chairman Sindh-Balochistan Region of Association of Builders and Developers of Pakistan (ABAD).

Speaking on a recently held meeting between ABAD members and Chinese investors at the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI), he said the Chinese were briefed on investment opportunities offered by the construction sector.

ABAD is an association of over 600 builders and developers headquartered in Karachi.

“As a top association of builders, ABAD wants to help foreign investors,” Patel said. “A lot of Asian investors, especially those from Turkey, recently enquired about investment opportunities in Pakistan, which shows the interest of foreign investors in the construction sector.”

The Chinese delegation, which was from Yunnan province and comprised 15 members, came here in connection with the exhibitions being organised in Yunnan.
