PTI distances itself from cyber attacks, spamming under party name

Published: March 29, 2012

PTI supporters or impersonators have been known to carry out mass online attacks on journalists and media groups.

In a move to distance itself from some of its more unruly online supporters and those “claiming to be” part of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), the party has said it has no association with “Insaf Cyber Team” — an online group supporting Imran Khan who allegedly took over AAJ TV’s popular talk show Bolta Pakistan’s Facebook page for some time.

In a press release, the PTI said it “does not subscribe to, and neither does it support any form of hacking of an website, Facebook page or Twitter account regardless of how adverse the point of view might actually be.”

While reiterating the PTI’s stance on social media responsibility, the party said, “due to the open nature of the social web, PTI cannot not take responsibility for acts of any individual and/or impersonators to defame the party or any content posted by them to which it has no administrative control over.”

Aside from outright hacking, PTI supporters or impersonators have been known to carry out mass online attacks on journalists and media groups, particularly using spamming of Facebook pages, Twitter accounts and email inboxes as a means to register their protest against critiques of the party or its chairman Imran Khan.

The guy running “Insaf Cyber Team” is just an emotional supporter from UK. He has made his facebook on the above name and keeps repeating to every anchor/journalist that he will expose them.

If you have supporters like him then you don’t need any eney.

PTI Media issued the press release on time yesterday. They have to be more active on this front because everyone is making pages on PTI’s name.

The actions of a few do not represent the whole Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf. If PTI wanted, they could reek havoc on social media because of PTI’s strength there.

Hmmm….. I wouldn’t call it spamming of facebook pages. There are just a LOT of supporters….. at some point they might want to honestly acknowledge that instead of calling it a spam attack or a bunch of trolls.

well frankly i think problem is from both sides some of these are kids are just passionate and at times do hit below the belt but nusrat javed should also refrain from from abusing and taunting them. Nusrat should also behave maturely block those kids who abuse

Well i think there is some thing fishy fishy in the matter, the person who was calling to the Bolta Pakistan from Karachi also respresented sometimes ago as a social or certain media coordinator of pti sometimes ago when the pages of PTI were hacked. I know that the enthusiasm of any kinds sometimes leads to this stage. But it is duty of leadership to control and condemn those who are culprit. Good step by PTI but not sufficient as there are many other issues too which create problem. And itself some media persons support as well others neglect PTI. So there be no extremesim allowed from both sides.Recommend

Look at the replies from PTI trolls!
They will never learn and grow up.
It’s shocking to see PTI trolls justifying these sort of acts.

And this must be coming from a PMLN supporter whose elected representatives would rather go for direct physical assault on media folks?

On a side note, I agree PTI supporters should be more calm in their criticism; abusing people is not the way to get the message across.

Important : Reference to the news Published in e tribune mentioing our group “an online group supporting Imran Khan who allegedly took over AAJ TV’s popular talk show Bolta Pakistan’s Facebook page for some time.” We once again clarify that we never hacked Bolta Pakistan page. It was a blunt lie from Nusrat Javed. We only uploaded screen shots of Abusive tweets of Mr.Nusrat Javeed. Abuses of Mr.Nusrat Javeed for PTI supporters and Imran Khan are very well known on social media. in order to divert attention from his abusive tweets, he spread false news in media about hacking of his page by Insaf Cyber Team.
