Javed Hashmi made PTI president

LAHORE: Javed Hashmi was made the President of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Monday, Express News reported. It was not immediately clear whether Hashmi was voted into the position.

Hashmi, during a press conference in Lahore along with PTI Chairman Imran Khan, said that the party members will all work together against corruption and for strengthening democracy.

Having a significant party position, the new PTI president would have a say in decisions related to awarding party tickets to members.

Hashmi had joined the PTI in December last year. The former Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader had disclosed that his decision was not emotional nor for power, and taken only after making sure that Imran was not supported by the establishment.

Hashmi at the press conference also welcomed the workers of the Pakistan Democratic Party (PDP), which has recently merged with the PTI.

According to a source, Hashmi has played an important role in convincing the PDP president Nawabzada Mansoor to merge his party with the PTI.

It is pertinent to mention that three of the prominent PTI members – Mian Azhar, Khurshid Mehmood Kasuri and Sardar Assef Ahmed – have still not been appointed to any party position.

And to Kanwal, President is someone who heads the operations and is responsible for the day to day businesses within a firm/organization whereas the Chairman holds more power and can VETO the decisions of the President. Chairman usually refers to heading the Board of Directors of an organization. And Vice Chairman is second in command and has more say in the BOD after the Chairman.

Democracy cann’t function unless people have tolerance and respect to divergent views. The composition of the society should be such that there is tolerance, patience, and abhorrence to violence, so that any ruler can deliver goods. All leaders are good to some extent and also bad to some extent. Our system only makes them function for the development of our society. This system is made or broken by people’s participation in governance.

    Dear all,
before you all start criticizing the decision, the values of democracy must be understood, there is a CEC and chairman and president are elected by CEC, Elections while will be taking place, will be under a president, all others including chairman positions will be dissolved and president will be the caretaker of the party in that process once all the positions including Chairman are elected then there will be a revision of post of president elections.

a chairman heads the CEC where as a president even heads CEC including Chairman. this is what is difference between chairman and president, just as there is a difference between PM and President.

hopefully you have understood the decision of announcing president before elections as president is one to decide election process while chairman position remains dissolved

Many thanks just last request before criticizing make a picture of party elections in your mind then you will understand how good this decision was.
