Squash federation exempts player from trials for event.

KARACHI: Farhan Mehboob was announced as the Pakistan captain for the Asian Championship three days after the player lashed out at the Pakistan Squash Federation (PSF) for asking him to appear in trials for the  tournament.

Farhan had stated that he was willing to skip the event after being asked to appear in trials, which he termed as ridiculous since he is the country’s number one player at the moment.

He made his intentions clear with the PSF as well through an email, leaving preparations for the mega event in a limbo.

Despite repeated efforts, Farhan did not report for trials and it took extensive efforts from the PSF which involved contacting his father Mehboob Khan as well.

However, the PSF Secretary Abdul Wahab Marwat has said that Farhan will appear in the Asian event as the captain of four-member squad.

“He will lead the squad as there are no doubts that he is currently the best player available,” Marwat told The Express Tribune.

The trials are being held under the supervision of Marwat and coach Jamshed Gul and it has been learnt that Farhan has been exempted.

While they made it clear that Farhan’s selection will not be based on the results of the trials, the player will have to appear to get some practice. The head coach always wanted to have Farhan on board after the player went unbeaten in the 45-day long training camp.

I think Frahan shouldn't play in selection, no reason to ban the players, Pakistan do not have many players just few players in PSA ranking.
