Embezzlement: Five convicted in corruption case

Embezzled Rs5.4 million from funds by tampering the record of a development project in NA-84.

FAISALABAD: An anti corruption court on Tuesday convicted five accused including a contractor of embezzlement. Liaquat Ali Chattha, EDO (finance), filed a complaint with Anti Corruption Establishment against former municipal officials of Lyallpur Town Muzammal Husain, sub engineer Khalid Husain, contractor Anjuam Hameed, Nasir Butt and Muhammad Usman accusing them of embezzling Rs5.4 million from funds by tampering the record of a development project in NA-84. On Tuesday, the court after recording evidences and statements of the witnesses, awarded five years rigorous imprisonment each to Muzzammal Hussain, Khalid Hussain and contractor Anjum Hameed, seven years imprisonment to Nasir Butt and one year to Muhammad Usman.
