From bad to worse

Letter March 03, 2012
In the last few years, PIA has gone from bad to worse.

SIALKOT: In the last few years, PIA has gone from bad to worse. Just a few months back, both the chairman and managing director of PIA claimed to have signed a deal for procurement of spare parts with a foreign supplier and with a credit facility of $700 million. Yet, what happened was that many of the airlines aircraft ended up being grounded because of lack spares.

More recently, the airline had signed a deal to induct five Boeing 777s into its fleet, at a cost of over a billion dollars. As taxpayers, it is our right to know where this funding has been arranged from and what the status of properties, owned by PIA Investments, such as Hotel Roosevelt and Hotel Scribe is.
