LAHORE: It is rare to find good news about Pakistan these days and that makes Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy’s winning an Oscar all the more welcome. The subject of her documentary — acid attacks on women — is depressing but it is something that must be addressed, and it is common not only in Pakistan several other countries.
It is sad that none of Chinoy’s documentaries has been screened by any Pakistani television channels. I am sure soon enough Saving Face will find its way into Pakistani homes through pirated DVDs but what we need to see is the local media showing such documentaries.
