Bahawalpur Province: Fazl announces support

Fazl said his party to free the people from the hold of feudal lords.

Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam (Fazl) chief Maulana Fazlur Rahman on Monday announced his support for the restoration of Bahawalpur’s provincial status and said the demand was now part of his party’s manifesto.


He was speaking at a dinner hosted by Senator Muhammad Ali Durrani.

Fazl said his party had launched a campaign in the southern districts of the province “to free the people from the hold of feudal lords”.

Leader of the Opposition in the Senate Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri, JUI-F Central Information Secretary Maulana Amjad Khan,  former Balochistan Assembly speaker Maulana

Jamilur Rehman Darkhwasti and JUI-F Punjab chief Maulana Rashid Ahmed Ludhianvi were also present.Fazl said whenever he raised his voice on the issue, Senator Durrani would find the JUI-F by his side.

Durrani thanked Fazl and said that the JUI-F’s support would strengthen the movement for restoration of Bahawalpur province.
