3 security personnel killed, 3 injured in militant attack in Khyber Agency

Security forces came under attack as they passed through Nala area in Bara, Khyber Agency on Friday.

PESHAWAR: Three security personnel were killed and three others were injured when militants opened fire on a vehicle in Bara, Khyber Agency, officials said on Friday.

Security forces were travelling through the Nala area in a vehicle when it came under attack from militants. Despite being pinned, security forces did manage to return fire. A security official from the area confirmed the deaths and the incident.

There was no immediate confirmation of any casualties to the militants, however, some sources said that there was a possibility that some of the militants could have been killed in the exchange of fire.

The areas of Bara, Khyber Agency have been a source of constant threat for the security forces that have been battling with the militants for almost three years.  A Lashkar, local militia, which has been aiding security forces have also been made a target of militant fire. Hundreds of families have relocated from the area because of the ongoing turmoil.
