Watching porn — inside parliament

Published: February 9, 2012

KARACHI: This is with reference to a report in your newspaper that said that three Indian lawmakers resigned after being caught on camera watching pornography on a mobile phone during a session of a state parliament. The three ministers have said that they did not want to cause any embarrassment for their party — the BJP — though they all vehemently denied watching any porn. The speaker of the state assembly has asked the ministers to not attend any sessions pending an investigation.

I remember that in June 2011, Sindh’s education minister Pir Mazharul Haq was shown on camera watching an Indian TV show on his iPad.

While porn and an Indian dance show are two different things, it would have been good had the Sindh minister also acted his Indian counterparts — or, at the very least, been banned from attending the assembly for a period of time.

    @Mubashir Mahmood
    We are not like Indians, actually we are opposite to everything that is Indian.It’s unpatriotic to expect our leaders to act,react or behave in a simillar fashion in a simillar situation the way an indian does.
    Remember that our forefathers created this land of pure i.e. Pakistan to avoid contamination of Indian impurity.
    We are an Islamic nation,our value system is different and should act accordingly.Get real.

    Where are the protectors of Indian culture? If an ordinary watches porn in public,he is prosecuted,whereas ministers go scotfree. The Press Commission of India chairman wanted media freedom to be curbed. Had this happened,we would not have been able to watchthe sameful behaviourof these ministers of the BJP,which has always claimed to bea party ” with a difference”.
