ISLAMABAD: Chief of Army Staff General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani and Inter-Services Intelligence agency (ISI) Director General Ahmed Shuja Pasha and Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar met Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani on Tuesday, to discuss the upcoming trilateral conference on the future of Afghanistan.

At the meeting, Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani asked Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar to visit Afghanistan to discuss reconciliation efforts there.

A senior government official told Reuters that Khar's visit was also to prepare for a US-Pakistan-Afghanistan meeting to be held in Islamabad in the coming weeks.

State television gave scant details on the high-powered meeting, saying only regional security, especially the situation in Afghanistan, was discussed.

The United States wants smooth ties between civilian and military leaders so that Pakistan can help efforts to stabilise neighbouring Afghanistan, a top priority for President Barack Obama.

U.S.-Pakistan-Afghanistan meetong. without Ambassador Marc Grossman ? The new basis of Pakistan U.S.relations are approved? I understand Reuters is an ancient news agency but unless it is suffering from Alcheimer, the news report could have been that bad.
