Altaf Hussain congratulates PTI for Karachi rally

Published: December 26, 2011

Hussain says it would be better if Khan presented his party’s manifesto rather than indulging in “politics of blames”.

Muttahida Qaumi Movement chief (MQM) Altaf Hussain congratulated Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s leader Imran Khan and his party members on carrying out a successful rally in Karachi, Express News reported on Monday.

In a notification released by MQM, Hussain said in a statement that it would have been better had Khan presented his party’s manifesto in the rally rather than indulging himself in “politics of blame” and alleging that other parties are corrupt.

Hussain said that such a move was required in order to channelise positivity in the current political situation.

Khan held a rally in Karachi earlier on Sunday at the Quaid’s Mausoleum.

There was no official figure available as of the time of filing this report. PTI Sindh claimed that up to 450,000 people had attended, “given that the ground had a capacity of 250,000 and that the surrounding roads and the Mazar-e-Quaid ground itself was packed.” A police officer deputed at the rally said his personal estimate was 300,000 including the people on the roads and in the mausoleum.

I think what MQM did was the sensible thing! The coming election will prove what are the real ground realities!!!

But I must say, MQM has come a long way & has matured as a political party. Now it must concentrate on their image a bit across Pakistan & if they succeed, then they are in business!!!!

They should not take power for granted & work (across Pakistan) if elected back in power like they did during the 2002 – 2008 era (Karachi).

This is the spirit. It shows mqm is really a party of educated and broad minded people. Hadn’t there been operation conspiracy against mqm, it would have accessed all over pakistan with it all positive image.
Karachi is for every one. Just have a look over the period of 2002 to 2007. No problem for any ethnic community. We were all brothers but it was a conspiracy against Karachi to destablize it.
    Please own karachi and pakistan

Tactfully MQM is acknowledging that the wind of change is blowing through the country, whether it likes it or not. PTI and Imran on the other hand avoided inflammatory speeches to ensure no unwanted reaction. Political maturity or future positioning by MQM for another power-sharing arrangement?Recommend

It was positive attitude from MQM’s leader, as this is not something hidden that MQM is surely to win with huge margin from Karachi and Hyderabad in spite of the crowd PTI succeeded to gather. PTI is a real threat to the remaining couple of seats PPP had in Karachi, Imran Khan could form an alliance with MQM easily because apart from Altaf Hussain himself, most of the other members of MQM are not controversial.. I can finally smell some breeze of peace in my poor city of lights…

Mr Hussain congratulated PTI because he knows that PTI will only damage the vote bank of democratic parties like ANP,PPP etc and not his political party.so its a win win situation for him and thats why he allowed PTI jalsa in Karachi in first place.
@Mrs Ahmed: Azam Swati also spoke in Hindko, and ofcourse in Urdu as well, but you probably didnt pick it.he spoke few words in pashto bcoz Pashto speakers showed up in huge numbers in their jalsa.Recommend

Shows maturity on part of MQM, MQM is an institution which grooms & promotes leaders from its ranks, unfortunately MQM has always been conspired against from becoming a nationwide entity. I bet MQM has got more sincere and hardworking leaders than any other party. Last but not least Karachi is and will always belong to MQM.
