Yellow cabs scam

ISLAMABAD: It is amazing that out of 5,000 applicants who succeeded in winning a lucky draw in Punjab’s yellow cab scheme, a mere 400 had genuine claims (as per a story in your newspaper on December 19).

If this is indeed what happened, then it shows the sorry state of management and inefficiency in a province run by a chief minister who says that he is determined to eliminate corruption at all levels. One wonders under what circumstances were such a large number of applications entertained in the first place. The chief minister should now take prompt action against the culprits so that the public’s confidence in this government scheme can be restored.
