Farooq Sattar said that ANP has become a drug, weapons and land mafia party.
KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement leader Dr Farooq Sattar on Saturday categorically blamed the Awami National Party for the killing of a party worker on Friday night.
While addressing the media in a press conference, Sattar said:
ANP’s armed men opened indiscriminate fire on MQM’s office. As a result, several MQM workers were injured and one of them succumbed to the injuries. The attackers belong to the Awami National Party. This statement is being made with complete evidence.
He added:
They are at large in the city and targeting people is their routine practice.
Sattar said that “till the time of Bacha Khan, it was a political party. Now this party has been turned into a drug, land and armed mafia.”
He said:
Criminals of this party are rolling around in the city with weapons at will. They are grabbing lands and properties on gun point and blackmailing people for money.
Sattar demanded that “the government take strict action against the land mafia.”
“We have always made such statements with complete evidence,” Sattar said.
He added:
Whenever the government tries to operate against them, it faces heavy retaliation. We can go through the newspapers of the previous year and we can see that whenever such criminals are arrested, they have connections with Taliban and terrorist organizations.
He said “terror activities have been started in the city. We ask PPP to control ANP which is its ally in government.”
Towards the end the MQM representative warned:
Despite such a big setback, the Chief of MQM has instructed the party to tolerate such incidents. But if we are forced, our level of tolerance may also reach the threshold.

Political standoff between major political parties on local government and their open support to Qabza Groups is major cause of unrest in Karachi. All political parties are equally involved without caring for poor people who are always on the loosing side. In response to yesterday’s killings uncontrolled youth played havoc in certain areas of Gulistan-e-Jauhar looting and burning shops, furniture market, hundreds of carts and patharas belonging to lowest class of society. Even the green belts and nurseries were not spared. Is this how cities ad states are ruled?
Gulistan-e-Jauhar is hot bed for its residents who are bullied equally by ANP, MQM, PPP and JSQM. Every party has its supporters in this area but wall chalking, destruction of property and killing is not going to help. In the end, every party will be a looser.
What happened last night is ofcourse condemnable but what followed is even more condemnable.Recommend
I was deeply surprised to see Police and Rangers standing like statues and not doing anything to stop the rioters. Police is fully aware about the activities of land, drug, gun mafia and facilitates them either under pressure or by taking heavy bribes. Karachi is sitting on top of huge dump of ammo and fully surrounded. Authorities are fully aware about its explosive nature. Yet they are not doing anything as if we are their step children.Recommend
ANP attacked MQM office and killed a worked and injured several others but wat MQM did in reaction? They killed innocent Pathan rikshaw drivers, bus conductor etc. and set on fire dozens of properties belonging to common Pathan who don’t have anything to take with ANP or MQM…ppl of karachi (even MQM voters) know the dirty game of MQM…!!!Recommend
If bullets should be responded with bullets, Problems will further compound and the tense situation will worsen instead of being defused. The leaders of both parties must sit to settle their difference permanently in the larger interest of the people Pakisan, especially those of Karachi. Such blame-games will lead us no where but complete chaos and disorder. I love to see PPP, MQM and ANP working together with peace, love and brotherhood for the welfare of their people. I wish them all the luck.Recommend
