Tips for female drivers

Letter December 08, 2011
I would suggest that female drivers should consider learning ‘evasive driving’ techniques.

KARACHI: This is with reference to a letter published in your newspaper on December 8 by Hana Noor Malik titled “Chasing female drivers”. I fully agree with the writer and she has well explained the problem faced by most female drivers on the roads. I would say, that the primary factor why this happens is because of a lack of concern and carelessness by the traffic police. If the roads were regularly patrolled by police, especially traffic sergeants, criminals, including hooligans, will be discouraged and female drivers will feel safer driving. However, in Lahore, all roads leading to various colleges and universities frequented by young women should be patrolled regularly by the police to deter hooligans.

I would also suggest that female drivers should consider learning ‘evasive driving’ techniques, from a recognised security training institute, if such a facility is available in Lahore. I presume the traffic police would also be aware of this. The main purpose of evasive driving is to know how to evade people chasing you, either on motorcycle or in a car.
