In search for a better future, suspects involved in slaughtering a family in Kakra Town, have confessed they committed the murders so they could have enough money to move to Malaysia, according to the police.
Azad Jammu and Kashmir Inspector General of Police (IGP) Tariq Khokhar identified the suspects as Arsalan Arshad and Raja Faizan Mustafa, both residents of Gujrat. Arshad killed his uncle, Abdul Majeed, a jeweller by profession and his family with Mustafa’s help to rob them of cash, gold ornaments and other valuables and fled to Lahore, according to Khokhar.
The suspects said they visited Majeed’s house and told him they had come on a trip. Whilst the family slept, Arshad and Mustafa allegedly murdered Majeed, his wife Farzana, his 17-year-old daughter Nabeela and his 15-year-old son Nabeel, by slitting their throats in the small hours of October 8. Five-year-old Adeel, the youngest son, was the only one to survive the incident.
The IGP said a special police team, headed by Additional Superintendent of Police Raja Irfan Saleem, constituted to investigate the case, arrested the two suspects. They said they failed to rob Majeed’s jewellery shop because they could not find the keys. The suspects have confessed to committing the murders. “The case is being investigated and justice will be served.”
