Banning of the BBC: Under what law?

Letter December 01, 2011
Who has given them the authority to do this? Isn’t this PEMRA’s job?

KARACHI: This is with reference to your editorial of December 1, titled “The blind patriotism of our cable operators”.

I have one simple question which I would like to ask both our cable operators association as well as the electronic media regulator, PEMRA.

Will they please inform us under which law have the cable operators banned the BBC and some other news channels? Who has given them the authority to do this? Isn’t this PEMRA’s job? In fact, isn’t it also PEMRA’s job to ensure that all those television channels which have a licence or have landing rights are relayed to viewers?
